Inspired by one of the most iconic shirts in Italian football history, the Lazio ’82 design reinterprets the legendary maglia bandiera through stripped back geometric form.
At a time when football kits were becoming bolder and more experimental, Lazio and Ennerre created something completely unique; the famous eagle graphic stretching across the chest and sleeves, turning a football shirt into a piece of graphic design history. More than forty years later, it remains one of the most celebrated kits ever produced.
The 1982–83 season represented a rebirth for Lazio. Playing in Serie B, the club embraced a radical new visual identity that captured the drama and romance of Italian football in the early 80s, Seleco sponsorship, terry cloth textures and smoke filled stadiums. The side would ultimately return to Serie A, helping cement the shirt’s legendary status among collectors and football romantics alike.
This piece strips those instantly recognisable visual elements back into a clean minimal composition inspired by classic calcio aesthetics, analogue sportswear graphics and the beauty of football before the modern era.
