Inspired by the birth of Paris Saint-Germain’s most iconic visual identity, the PSG ’76 design reinterprets the legendary “Hechter” era through clean geometric form.

Before PSG became a global superclub, there was a different Paris Saint-Germain. Parc des Princes under cold Parisian skies, sharp tailoring, cigarette smoke drifting through the stands and a football club shaped as much by fashion and culture as by sport itself.

At the centre of it all was Daniel Hechter.

The French fashion designer and PSG president created the club’s now legendary visual identity in the mid 1970s: deep navy blue, a bold central red stripe and fine white detailing inspired by Paris itself. The “Hechter shirt” would become one of football’s greatest pieces of design; elegant, minimalist and unmistakably Parisian.

The 1976 era captures PSG before the modern era transformed the club, when football, fashion and French cultural identity first collided at the Parc des Princes. Mustapha Dahleb, RTL sponsorship and classic Hechter's aesthetics combined to create one of the defining visual languages in football history.

This piece strips those instantly recognisable elements back into a minimal composition inspired by Parisian culture, analogue football aesthetics and the romance of football before globalisation.
