Inspired by the elegance of early 80s Paris Saint-Germain, the PSG ’83 design reinterprets one of football’s most sophisticated visual identities through clean geometric form.

This was PSG before the celebrity era. Parc des Princes under cold Parisian skies, sharp tailoring, RTL sponsorship and the unmistakable atmosphere of football in a city obsessed with style, culture and image long before modern football understood branding.

At the centre of it all was the legendary “Hechter” identity.

Originally created by designer and former PSG president Daniel Hechter, the iconic shirt with its bold stripes became one of football’s greatest pieces of visual design; minimalist, elegant and unmistakably Parisian. By 1983, that identity had evolved into one of the defining aesthetics of European football’s analogue era.

The 1982–83 and 1983–84 seasons captured PSG as a rising force in French football, winning the Coupe de France and bringing a sense of glamour and sophistication rarely seen elsewhere in the game at the time. RTL sponsorship and classic proportions combined to create a shirt that still feels timeless decades later.

This piece strips those visual elements back into a minimal composition inspired by Parisian design culture, analogue football aesthetics and the romance of football before globalisation.
